A few things I get up to away from work.

I thought I'd add this pic of myself on bass, and my son Nathan playing in
The Beatmobiles, our all Beatles music band. If you need a great band for any
event, let me know. We play all the Beatles great top ten dance music, as well
as the more obscure songs of the fab four! Check www.beatmobiles.co.nz
The wooden press at MOTAT, a replica of an early 1700s Common Press.
Lots of fun to operate. Here volunteer Bruce appears to be polishing
the woodwork. Or is he cleaning off some tomato sauce?
You can catch me here on the odd Sunday.

Another interest is as a member of the Association of
Handcraft Printers, a wacky group of hobby and tradesman
printers keen to keep letterpress alive at all costs.
This was a recent visit to the Tuakau Museum where member
Ted Higgins has his personal collection of wonderfully restored
presses displayed.

I recently visited a number of printing museums in the North
Island. This print shop is at Cobblestones Museum in Greytown.
Local resident, and AHP member,Tony King put it all together
and takes his visitors through the steps of printing as it was done
100 years ago. I was impressed with Tony's attention to detail,
and giving folk a great educational experience.
Worth a visit when passing through the Wairarapa.

Colin, the hard working printer, contemplating his next job on
the Linotype. There are not many of these operators in
working order left now. Colin is happily settled in Hawera and
offering a service of linosetting to letterpress printers in the district.

That's little old me at the base of something pretty big . . .

. . . one of these, down by the Manawatu Gorge.
